ROCK HILL, S.C. – South Atlantic Conference Football will be featured for the second time on the 2017 NCAA Division II Football Showcase as No. 25 Catawba hosts Mars Hill on Saturday, September 22 for a 6:00 P.M. kickoff. This game is the final of two South Atlantic Conference contests featured this year's NCAA Division II Football Showcase lineup.

Mars Hill (2-1) is coming off a 43-28 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne as Craig Rucker led the offense catching eight of David Salmon's 15 completed passes for 186 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Keshaun Taylor was on the receiving end of three passes for 93 yards and one score while, also throwing one touchdown pass that covered 44 yards to Rucker. Taylor also rushed for a 48-yard score to find the end zone three different ways for the Lions. For his efforts, Taylor was named the SAC Player of the Week. The Lions outscored the Bears 20-6 in the third quarter to seal the win.

Catawba (3-0) is coming off a 41-9 victory at UNC Pembroke last week. Catawba got points on its first two drives to go up 10-0. Lee Brackman put the first points on the board with a 23-yard field goal. Gavin Rose caught a 27-yard pass from Patrick O'Brien for the 10-0 edge at the 8:21 mark of the opening quarter. Patrick O'Brien became Catawba's first quarterback with four TD passes in a game since 2010 in the win over UNC Pembroke. Eamon Smart went over 100 yards for the second time in three games with his 109 yard performance at UNC Pembroke.
