MARS HILL, N.C.-- The Mars Hill men's soccer team is ranked ninth in the nation in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) NCAA Division II poll, which was released Tuesday.
Mars Hill is off to a 2-0-0 start. Last week, MHC opened the season with a 3-1 victory over previously 12th-ranked Barry and a 5-1 victory over King. The ranking is the highest national ranking in school history, besting the previous high of 13th in 2010. The NSCAA poll is the official poll of NCAA Division II soccer.
The Lions have outshot their opponents by a combined total of 55-17 in their two matches thus far this season. MHC leads all South Atlantic Conference teams in goals, shots and assists.
Mars Hill has two upcoming matches this week. The Lions will host Limestone tonight at 7 p.m., and will host Erskine on Saturday at 2 p.m.
