HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (1-21, 0-17 SAC) was defeated by a score of 82-65 by Lincoln Memorial (14-11, 9-8 SAC) Wednesday evening on the road.

The Railsplitters jumped out to an early 8-0 run in the first 2:20 of the contest with Emily Griffith scoring half of the points.  A jumper by Mariah Johnson slowed the LMU offense momentarily before the Railsplitters reeled off another 6-0 run to go up 14-2 with 5:36 left in the first quarter.  Late in the frame, Mars Hill put together a 4-0 run to pull within nine, but the Lincoln Memorial closed out the opening 10 minutes on a 9-0 to go into the second up 27-9.  Both Griffith and Dasia Maxwell had six points in the first.

Mars Hill outscored Lincoln Memorial 15-14 in the second quarter with both Johnson and Baylea Loven scoring four points apiece.  Trailing 40-15 with 5:30 left in the half, the Lions strung together a 9-1 run to close out the half.  Loven had four points in the run.

Johnson had nine points to lead all players at the end of the half.  Maxwell led the Railsplitters with seven.

In the highest scoring frame of the contest, the Railsplitters outscored Mars Hill 27-21.  With the Lions trailing 48-30, they began a 7-0 run to pull within 11 with 4:35 left in the stanza.  They narrowed the margin to 10 before a Rachel Griffith three-pointer was the catalyst for a Railsplitters 13-0 run to rebuild their 21-point lead.  The Lions entered the final quarter down 68-45.

As they did in the second, the Lions outscored Lincoln Memorial 20-14 in the fourth quarter.  A 7-2 Lions' run narrowed the margin to 18 points and with 4:09, a Selby Baughman jumper pulled the Lions within 17, however, it would be the closest the Lions would come for the remainder of the game.

Both Emily and Rachel Griffith scored 17 points to lead the Railsplitters.  Kai Wesemann led all players with nine rebounds.

Alexis Pardue led all players with 20 points while Johnson ended the game with 16.  Both Loven and Shayla Smith led the Lions with eight rebounds apiece.

The Lions return home for Senior Day on Saturday, February 23rd when they host Lenoir-Rhyne.  Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
