MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-2, 0-1 SAC) was defeated by UVA Wise (6-1, 2-0 SAC) by a score of 17-5 Wednesday afternoon in their South Atlantic Conference opener.
The Cavaliers netted five goals in the first quarter with two coming from the stick of Caitlyn Schultz. Abby Cleveland scored both Lions' goals in the frame.
Mars Hill was held to just one goal per the remaining quarters with Cleveland, Cierra Ledeen, and Brooklyn Nemitz being the goal scorers.
Schultz led all players with five goals while Taylor Thompson added five assists. Noley Hiller chipped in five points as well, netting four goals and adding one assist.
Cleveland led Mars Hill with four points (3G, 1A) followed by a goal apiece from Ledeen and Nemitz.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, March 7 when they face Anderson. First draw is set for 3 p.m. inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
