CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (1-14, 1-12 SAC) was defeated by a score of 83-57 versus Queens (6-9, 5-9 SAC) Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Royals put up 23 points in both the first and second quarter, leading 46-19 after the first 20 minutes of play. Kalaya Hall led all players with eight points in the first frame and ended the half with 11. Maddie Gillie led the Lions with six points in the first half.
Mars Hill outscored the Royals 22-19 in the third with Gillie scoring 13 of the Lions' points, hitting three three-pointers. Trinity Barkley netted five in the fourth to lead the Lions.
Queens shot nearly 39 percent from the floor to the Lions' 32. Hall led all players with 24 points and added eight rebounds. Malea Garrison collected 17 of the Royals' 47 rebounds and added 16 points for the double-double.
Gillie led the Lions with 22 points followed by De'Ja Marshall's 10 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double.
