MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (2-11, 1-8 SAC) was defeated by Newberry (10-4, 7-2 SAC) by a score of 18-1 Wednesday evening.
Newberry led 6-0 after the first quarter, netting four goals in the final minute of the frame.
The Wolves held Mars Hill scoreless until the 11:56 mark, where Abby Cleveland's free position shot snuck past Presley Green to break the shutout bid.
Serena Elias led all players with five points (3G, 2A) while Dakota Beasley led all players with four goals.
Cleveland, Madison Welch, Brooklyn Nemitz, and Molly Salus each recorded three shots for the Lions.
Mars Hill takes to the road on Saturday, April 19 when they face Anderson. First draw is set for 3 p.m.
