Mars Hill opens 2019 season on road versus USC Upstate

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (0-1-0) opened their 2019 campaign on the road versus Division I foe USC Upstate (1-0-0) Thursday evening.

The Spartans struck first just 8:06 into the contest as Montanna Hill scored her first of two goals in the contest.  Abbie Ellis put USC Upstate up by two several minutes later with her first of the season.

The Lions allowed two more goals early in the second half to find themselves trailing 4-0 before freshman Fanny Gustavsson scored her first career goal in the 72nd minute to break the shutout bid.

Goals from Jane Bossler and Jayna Tyler added to the Spartans lead as they closed out  Mars Hill by a score of 6-1.

Mars Hill opens their home schedule on Sunday, September 8th when they host the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  The Family Day contest is set for a 1 p.m. start.
