Lions downed by Bears in road meet
The Mars Hill women's swim team was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne, 177-73, Friday night on the road.
HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's swim team was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne, 177-73, Friday night on the road.
In the 100 yard butterfly, Brianna Broussard turned in a time of 1:03.08 to claim victory and nine points for the Lions.
Sydney Hnatuk finished second in 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:04.22. In the 50 and 200 yard freestyles, Elena Massa placed second with times of 25.82 and 2:02.65.
Haley Horton finished second in both the 50 and 100 yard backstroke to pick up eight total points for Mars Hill.
Broussard, Horton, Bailee Bolin, and Ashley Hicks placed third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:02.38. Hicks, Massa, Sydney Gearhart, and Leah Hinsley turned in a time of 1:48.16 for a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Mars Hill travels to Bristol, Tennessee on Saturday, January 23 to take on King and Lees-McRae. The meet is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
