Lions felled by C-N, Emmanuel
Mars Hill opens 2025 slate on road at Carson-Newman.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's swim team was defeated by both Carson-Newman (145-51) and Emmanuel (156-44) Friday night on the road in their first meet of 2025.
Catalina Portilla claimed the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:48.37. She also took fourth in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.86.
In the 1,650 yard freestyle, Sofia Ospina placed fourth with a time of 19:07.51. Maria Arrabal, in the 100 yard breaststroke, placed fourth with a time of 1:12.46.
Maria Jose Orozco placed fifth in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyles with respective times of 25.62 and 55.87.
The group of Portilla, Ospina, Arrabal, and Jose Orozco placed third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.11.

The Lions return to the pool on Saturday, January 18 when they face Lees-McRae and Roanoke at Harrogate, Tennessee. The meet is set for a 3 p.m. start.
