Lions downed by Shaw in non-conference play

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (2-6-1) was defeated by Shaw (2-6-1) by a score of 4-0 Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.  

The Bears pushed the pace offensively in the first half, forcing Lions' goalkeeper Eric Winkler to make six saves.  With just over eight minutes to play in the half, the Bears were able to sneak one past Winkler as Brandon Linares netted his fourth of the season.

Shaw added three more goals in the second half as Danny Camron, Andre Matzuda, and Sam Lister all got on the scoresheet. 

The Lions were held to six shots in the contest while Shaw put up 21.  Mars Hill returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 9 when they host the Flying Fleet of Erskine.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 inside Meares Stadium.
