After a strong performance at the Fall Frenzy Invite in Charlotte, N.C., the Mars Hill men's swim team moved up 29 spots in the National DII rankings to no. 13.
The rankings are based on national top times for each swim event. Mars Hill swimmers are now ranked in the top 10 in five different events and many more have top 20 national times.
Head Coach Teddy Guyer stated, "This is a great accomplishment for our team. They work extremely hard all year and it is now showing. The team is very excited and pumped about the rankings and great performances they had, but they are focused on working hard for the conference meet and getting into the NCAA Nationals."
Hudson Tucker, a senior from Brookwood, Ala., leads the way. He is ranked third in the nation in the 100 backstroke, fifth in the 100 fly, and ninth in the 100 freestyle. The 200 free relay team of Tucker, Seth Greene, Mladen Senicar and Drew Rosser and 400 medley relay of Tucker, Senicar, Salvatore Russo, and Senicar are ranked seventh and ninth in the nation, respectively.
The ranking of 13th in the nation is the highest ever for the men's swim team, who finished 24th in the nation at last years NCAA DII National Championships. Tucker was also Mars Hill's first ever Swimming All-American at Nationals finishing eighth in the 100 back (48.21) and ninth in the 100 fly (48.13).
The team will return to action at the Igloo invite on December 6-7, in Sewanee, Tenn.
