MARS HILL, N.C. – Mars Hill All-American swimmer Hudson Tucker has qualified for the NCAA National meet for the fourth consecutive season. Tucker has qualified to swim in the 100 Yard Backstroke, 100 Yard Butterfly, 100 Yard Freestyle and 50 Yard Freestyle. The NCAA National meet will take place March 12-15 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
"It's an amazing feat to qualify for Nationals for all four years and especially to qualify for multiple events," said Mars Hill swimming coach Teddy Guyer. "Hudson has helped put Mars Hill swimming on the national map."
In 2013, Tucker finished in eighth place in the 100 Back and ninth in the 100 Fly, earning 20 points for Mars Hill as the Lions finished the national meet in 24th place. This is the fourth time that Tucker will be eligible to compete for multiple individual national titles.
Tucker has a long list of accomplishments heading into his final collegiate meet. He became the first All-American in school history last year after being named an Honorable Mention All-American in 2012 and 2011 and was the first swimmer to qualify for Nationals. The senior has been named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Swimmer of the Week seven times in his career and holds five individual school records is part of four relay school records.
