Griggs Earns AstroTurf SAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors
Mars Hill junior Alex Griggs has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill junior Alex Griggs has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, league officials announced this afternoon. This is Griggs' second Runner of the Week honor of the season and the seventh time in his Mars Hill career.
Griggs finished in second place in the Charlotte Invitational on Friday with an 8-kilometer time of 25:09.7. He was the highest finishing SAC and Southeast Region runner. Griggs and his Lion teammates set a new school record for team average time with a mark of 25:46.78. In three races this season, Griggs has finished in second, third and fourth place.
Mars Hill will compete in the Royals XC Challenge next Saturday.
