PINEHURST, N.C.- The Mars Hill women's golf team is in 18th place after the opening day of the 2014 Pinehurst Challenge at National Golf Club.
Jacqueline McCormick fired an 87 to lead the Lions, putting herself in a tie for 32nd place. Armstrong's Jenna Birch and Queens University's Grace Glaze share the lead with a 4-over-par 76.
No. 15 Armstrong is atop the leaderboard with an opening round 315, with Lee University sitting in second place 14 shots behind. The 36-hole tournament wraps up tomorrow.
