Mars Hill opens regular season with tilt versus Montevallo
The Mars Hill women’s lacrosse team (0-1) was defeated in their season opener by Montevallo (1-0) by a score of 14-3 Friday evening at home.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (0-1) was defeated in their season opener by Montevallo (1-0) by a score of 14-3 Friday evening at home.
The Falcons opened the contest on a 4-0 run over the first 15 minutes of play. Alexa Tazzetta scored the lone goal for the Lions in the first half, however, Montevallo responded by going up on a 7-0 run to close out the frame with three goals from Anya Kuys and two from Eleanor Bruce.
Montevallo outshot the Lions 22-4 in the first half to build the 10 goal advantage
Tazzetta struck two more times in the second half, accounting for all three Lions' tallies. Bruce added two more goals while Kuys netted one more for her fifth of night.
Janey Johnson collected one goal and two assists for the Falcons for three points on the night.
Miranda Laird made two saves in the win while Alexandria Holleran stopped six in the loss.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, February 13 when they take to the road to face Southern Wesleyan. Draw is set for 1 p.m.
