MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill Athletic Department and baseball team announces new infield turf installation on Don Henderson Field that will be in place for the 2021 season.
"Thanks to strong fundraising by the Mars Hill Baseball Team, we will install new synthetic turf on the infield and bullpens," Athletic Director Rick Baker stated.
Installation began in mid-November and will be completed in late December of 2020.
Baker added, "This will provide many advantages when compared to a natural playing surface. These include avoiding cancelation or postponements of games or practices, drastically less expensive maintenance costs, safer playing conditions for our student-athletes, higher success rate of landing more talented student-athletes in the recruiting process, a more enjoyable student-athlete experience that leads to a higher retention rates, and higher success rate on the scoreboard for years to come."
"Adding this turf infield is a huge milestone for our program," head baseball coach Hunter Bryant said. "We have renovated our locker room, bullpen areas, and now our field all in the last three years."
