Mars Hill closes home slate versus No. 11 Catawba
The Mars Hill baseball team (12-16, 9-15 SAC) was defeated in both games Saturday versus Catawba (19-6, 15-5 SAC) by scores of 13-1 and 11-0, respectively.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (12-16, 9-15 SAC) was defeated in both games Saturday versus Catawba (19-6, 15-5 SAC) by scores of 13-1 and 11-0, respectively.
GAME ONE: CAT 13, MHU 1
The Indians plated eight in the third inning, leading them to the series win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.
Dylan Wilkinson put Catawba up 5-0 with a three-run home run to left center field. Later in the frame, up 8-0, Hunter Shepherd hit a two-run shot to right center field, establishing the double-digit lead.
Tyler Lala, in the bottom of the fourth, broke the shutout bid with a solo home run to right field.
Shepherd hit his second two-run home run of the game in the top of the fifth. Lee Poteat added a solo shot in the fifth to put Catawba up 13-1.
Shepherd went 3-for-3 with a game-high four RBI. He also picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits in the complete game effort, striking out five.
GAME TWO: CAT 11, MHU 0
Catawba shutout the Lions to complete the series sweep.
The Indians plated seven in the second, highlighted by Luke Spiva's grand slam. After tacking on one run in the fifth, Catawba scored three in the eighth to build the double-digit lead.
Spiva led all players with four RBI while Dylan Wilkinson went 4-for-5 from the plate. Kameron Reynolds led the Lions with two hits.
Prior to the games, seniors Cal Hubbard, Carlton Jackson, Hunter Holland, Slade Glenn, Kameron Reynolds, Cameron Howell, Austin Treadway, Austin Purser, and Robert Rogers were recognized for their contributions to the program.
The Lions return to the diamond on Tuesday, April 6 when they face Newberry. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
