Dawkins ties career-high in thriller versus Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (4-10, 4-7 SAC) was edged by Anderson (8-9, 5-8 SAC) 100-97 Wednesday night on the road.
The Trojans carried a three-point lead into the second half after leading by as many as nine. The Lions battled throughout the frame to knot the game at 34 with under 4:30 remaining in the half with a Michael Houge layup. Anderson responded with a 5-0 run to pull away and provide a cushion heading into the final 20 minutes.
Kadyn Dawkins led all players with 16 points in the first half, hitting 6-of-10 shots from the floor. Michael Houge added 10 off the bench and pulled down seven rebounds. The Trojans shot over 53 percent from the floor with Parker Dortch leading the team with 11 points.
The second half saw both teams score 57 points. Each team had three players record double-digit points in the frame with Houge's 16 leading all players. Both Dawkins and Jay Hickman added 13 apiece. Dortch and Jalen Hillery scored 13 apiece for the Trojans while Myles Jenkins netted 12.
Anderson led by as many as 20 in the second half with less than nine minutes to play. A Houge layup with 4:17 remaining kicked off a Lions' run that saw the gap close to three before forced fouls sent the Trojans to the free throw line. Isaiah Jones' three with two seconds remaining saw the lead cut to one, 98-97.
Dawkins led all players with 29 points, tying a career-high. Houge added 26 and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Dortch led the Trojans with 24 followed by 19 apiece from Jenkins and Hillery.
