MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (2-0) defeated Ferrum (0-2) by a score of 14-2 Saturday afternoon inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
In the middle frames, the Lions outscored Ferrum 9-0, recording three man-up goals. Abby Cleveland netted two goals and added two assists for four points in the quarters. Brooklyn Nemitz and Cierra Ledeen each scored two goals while Grace Hinkel and Kendall Middleton each added one tally.
The fourth quarter saw goals off the sticks of Cleveland, Ledeen, and Miranda Overby.
Cleveland led all players with six points (4G, 2A) followed by four from Ledeen (3G, 1A). Hinkel added three points (1G, 2A) followed by Nemitz's two (2G).
Victoria Kaercher earned the win, stopping four shots in just over 56 minutes of play. Emma Porterfield made two saves, closing out the win for the Lions.
Mars Hill returns to the field on Wednesday, February 25 when they face Southern Wesleyan on the road. First draw is set for 5 p.m
