Mars Hill faces Wolves on Senior Day
Eleven Mars Hill seniors were recognized in the penultimate home match of the year.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (8-6, 4-4 SAC) was defeated by Newberry (9-5, 6-2 SAC) by a score of 19-4 Saturday afternoon.
The Wolves struck for the first four goals of the contest before the Lions cut into their lead. Goals from Brandon Woodward and Caleb Nelson, just one minute apart, sent Mars Hill into the second down by two. Josh McCallion and Sam Arendt picked up assists in the frame.
McCallion netted his lone goal of the contest with 9:09 remaining in the half, assisted by Cole Ross. Austin Stroud scored the Lions' fourth goal of the half, wrapping around the net and whizzing one by the Newberry keeper.
Newberry held Mars Hill scoreless for the final 30 minutes of play, outscoring the Lions 9-0 to secure the road win.
McCallion led the Lions with two points (1G, 1A) while Woodward, Nelson, and Stroud each added a goal apiece. Shane Hecht made 13 saves while Xavier Wells stopped four in relief effort.
At the conclusion of the contest, seniors Austin Stroud, John Jackson III, Cole Ross, Brandon Woodward, Zack Gardner-McMinn, Comann Gandy, Kobe Griffin, Alex Oleschuk, Josh McCallion, Shane Hecht, and Andrew Dafoe were recognized and celebrated for their contributions to the program.
The Lions close out their road slate on Saturday, April 19 when they face Anderson. First faceoff is set for 12 p.m.
