Lions defeat King on road
BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (4-2) defeated King (4-2) by a score of 254.150-246.385 Wednesday evening on the road.
After closely contested Compulsory and Acro events, the Lions began to pull away in the Pyramid, outscoring King 29.55-28.10. The Lions scored a near perfect 10.00 in the Inversion heat with a 9.95. In heat two, the Synchronized heat, they scored a 9.75 and closed out the event in the Open heat with a 9.85.
At the start of the second half, Mars Hill expanded their lead by outscoring King in the Toss, 27.15-25.80. In the open heat, the team recorded an event-high 9.60.
A solid outing in all six Tumbling passes saw the Lions build their lead by an additional point. In the Team Event, the Lions clinched the win with an 84.05 to King's 79.96.
Mars Hill returns to the mats and Chambers Gymnasium on Friday, March 27 when they host Coker. The meet is set for a 6 p.m. start.
