Lions edged by Coker
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (4-3) was defeated by Coker (5-2) by a score of 257.395-255.225 Friday evening inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The Lions led at the half, 93.05-91.40, highlighted by their Compulsory event. The Lions scored 36.95 out of 40 points, leading the Cobras by over 2.5 points.
Coker continued to bite at the Lions' lead until ultimately taking over in the Tumbling event, outscoring Mars Hill 52.475-50.625. In the duo pass, they scored a 9.4 to Mars Hill's 8.5. They closed out their strong six heats with a 9.875 in the open pass.
In the Team event, the Cobras clinched the win with an 85.82 to the Lions' 84.30.
Mars Hill returns to the mats one last time at home on Thursday, April 2 when they host Francis Marion on Senior Day. The meet is set for a 6 p.m. start.
