Lions edged in Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill acrobatics & tumbling team (5-4) fell to Coker (7-2) by a score of 254.495-252.175 Tuesday night in Conference Carolinas Quarterfinal action.
The Lions trailed by just over two points after the Compulsory and Acro events. They clawed to within .05 points entering the half, scoring 29.35 out of 30 possible points in the Pyramid, highlighted by two 9.85 scores in the Inversion Heat and the Open Heat.
Coker led 90.90-90.85 after three events.
The Cobras, after outscoring Mars Hill 26.55-26.00 in the Toss Event, pulled away in the Tumbling Event. They scored 52.725 to the Lions' 50.125, with nearly a full point coming from the Open Pass, where they scored a 9.575 to Mars Hill's 8.675.
Despite the Lions taking the team event, 85.20-84.32, the deficit was too large to overcome in the end.
