ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (7-5-2, 4-4-1 SAC) earned a 1-1 draw versus Anderson (10-2-2, 5-2-2 SAC) Saturday evening on the road.
Trailing 1-0 with under three minutes to play, Peter Plougmand knotted the game at one. Following a shot from Kevonte Willoughby-Williams, Plougmand found the loose ball off of the goalkeeper and scored with 2:37 remaining.
In the overtime frames, the Lions outshot Anderson 3-2 with their best opportunity coming off the foot of Braxton Robinson who blasted a shot just over the crossbar in the second extra period.
Martin Carpena opened the scoring in the first half for Anderson, converting on a penalty kick in the 21st minute.
Mars Hill outshot Anderson 18-16 in the contest as Willoughby-Williams led all players with six attempts. Jake White added four for the Lions. Renato Oban and Santiago Arce each attempted three for the Trojans.
Brennan Whalen made four saves while Gal Elyashiv stopped three.
The Lions return to action in non-conference play on Wednesday, October 27 when they face Shaw. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
