Lions compete at Samford Bulldog Open
The Mars Hill men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Samford Bulldog Open Saturday at the Birmingham Sports Crossplex.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Mars Hill men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Samford Bulldog Open Saturday at the Birmingham Sports Crossplex.
MEN:
Ben Goodlett led the way for the Lions in shot put, throwing a new personal-best 13.28m. Goodlett placed 17th overall out of 47 competitors.
Ashtin Gainey threw a new personal best 10.56m. Isaiah Reid also threw a personal best of 8.5m.
In high jump, Levi Higgins placed eighth out of 21 competitors with a jump of 1.9m.
Ky Mann jumped a season-best 6.31m in long jump, good enough for 20th place out of 41 athletes.
Jackson McClain competed in long jump for the first time, jumping 5.89m, finishing 31st out of 41.
Tyler Newlon competed in the men's 800m. Tyler finished with a new season best 2:13.91.
Lee Prescott lead the way for the Lions in the weight throw, throwing a new personal-best 11.13m.
WOMEN:
Alina Mueller competed in both the long jump and the 200m sprint. Mueller jumped a season-best 4.38m in long jump. She also ran a new personal-best 28.18s in the 200m.
Bailey Beeman competed in shot put, throwing a new personal-best 8.63m. She also jumped a season-best 4.02m in long jump.
Makayla Rogers competed in the 200m sprint for the first time ever, finishing with a time of 29.90s.
Megan Van Etten ran a strong race in the women's 3000m, finishing with a new season best 13:18.33.
Elana Mackey competed in two of the toughest events in track & field, the 400m and 800m races. Mackey ran a season-best 1:03.72 in the 400. Shea followed that with a strong 800m, nearly besting her season best. Mackey finished with a time of 2:39.78
Next up for the teams is the SAC Indoor Conference Championship held on February 26th and 27th.
