Lions start strong at GottaRun Invite
The Mars Hill men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Southern Wesleyan University to compete in the GottaRun Invite Friday afternoon.
CENTRAL, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Southern Wesleyan University to compete in the GottaRun Invite Friday afternoon.
Highlights from Day 1
Men's:
Freshman Brandon Bailes competed in men's javelin for his first-time ever. Bailes won his flight of 13 competitors and advanced to finals. He placed ninth overall with a personal best throw of 41.85m.
Justus Shelton had a strong day competing in his first collegiate track meet. He competed in javelin, placing 11th overall with a throw of 40.12m.
Hunter Snyder competed in the 5000m race, placing 27th overall with a time of 20:03.20.

Women's:
Alina Mueller competed in javelin, placing seventh overall with a new personal best throw of 29.59m.
Elana Mackey competed in the 800m race, finishing 27th overall with a time of 2:42.53s. Anahi Reta competed in the 800m race as well, finishing 37th overall with a time of 2:58.41s.
Megan Van Etten competed in the 5000m, placing 24th overall with a time of 24:26.88s.
Day 2 starts tomorrow at 10 a.m. with women's discus.
