Lions place 12th at SAC Championships
The Mars Hill men's track and field team traveled to Anderson, South Carolina to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Anderson University.
ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's track and field team traveled to Anderson, South Carolina to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Anderson University.
Highlights from the 2-day championship meet:
Lee Prescott qualified for three events - hammer, shot put, and discus. Prescott placed 16th in hammer with a season best throw of 37.13m, 17th in shot put with a throw of 11.76m, and 18th in discus with a throw of 35.03m.
Ben Goodlett qualified for three events as well - javelin, shot put, and discus. Goodlett placed 16th in javelin with a throw of 42.36m, 14th in shot put with a throw of 12.84m, and 23rd in discus with a personal best mark of 33.38m.
Justus Shelton qualified for javelin, placing 15th overall with a throw of 42.58m. Brandon Bailes qualified for two events - javelin and the 200m sprint. Bailes placed 19th in javelin with a throw of 39.42m and 28th in the 200m with a time of 23.76s. Andrew Hensley qualified for javelin, placing 23rd overall with a personal best throw of 35.29m.
RaQuan Coles qualified for discus, placing 21st overall with a mark of 33.77m. Isaiah Reid qualified for shot put, throwing a season best mark of 10.23m, placing 20th overall. Ashtin Gainey qualified in shot put as well, placing 21st overall with a mark of 10.23m.
Ethan Lee qualified in the 100m sprint. Lee placed 35th overall with a time of 11.44s. Tyler Newlon qualified for the 800m, placing 34th overall with a time of 2:21.82s.
Wanya Martin qualified for long jump, placing 26th overall with a new personal best jump of 4.66m.
The men's team finished in 12th place overall at the conclusion of the championship.
