Lions compete at Catamount Classic
The Mars Hill men's outdoor track & field team traveled to Western Carolina University over this weekend to compete at the Catamount Classic.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's outdoor track & field team traveled to Western Carolina University over this weekend to compete at the Catamount Classic.
Day 1 Highlights:
Justus Shelton captured first place in javelin on his last throw of finals with a new personal best 47.58m.
Brandon Bailes placed fourth in javelin, throwing a new personal best 43.97m. Andrew Hensley competed in javelin for the first time in his track career. Hensley placed seventh with a throw of 30.9m.
Lee Prescott placed 11th in hammer with a season best throw of 35.52m.
Day 2 Highlights:
Levi Higgins captured second place in men's high jump with a jump of 1.95m.
Lee Prescott advanced to the finals in men's discus, placing ninth overall with a throw of 36.45m.
Ben Goodlett placed 10th in discus, throwing a personal best 32.92m.
Jackson McClain placed 15th in the 100m sprint with a time of 11.18s. Ethan Lee, in his first time running the 100m, placed 19th, finishing in a time of 11.43s.
Aaron Newlon ran an outdoor season best 2:12.59 in the 800m run, placing 39th overall.
Next up, the Lions travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, April 23rd to compete in the L-R Outdoor Open.
