School record set at SAC Championships, Lions place 10th
EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill women's outdoor track & field team traveled to Emory, Virginia to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championship. Mars Hill finished tied for 10th overall with 15 team points.
The team battled rain all day on day one and cold temperature and high winds the majority of day two making it challenging for all the competitors.
School Record
Sophie Ratcliff placed 7th in the 10000m run with a time of 38:00.54. Ratcliff set a new school record, besting the previous record by 33 seconds. Ratcliff earned 2pts towards the team score.
Point Scorers
Kayla Rice placed 5th in Hammer Throw with a mark of 39.56m. Rice earned 4pts towards the team score.
Cierra Williams placed 6th in Discus with a throw of 36.33m, earning 3pts towards the team score. Williams placed 6th in Hammer throw as well with a throw of 39.48m, earning an additional 3pts towards the team score.
Charley Seagle placed 7th in Hammer Throw with a mark of 38.78m. Seagle earned 2pts towards the team score.
Natalie Freise placed 8th in her first collegiate heptathlon, finishing with a combined score of 3,380pts. Freise set personal bests Javelin, the 200m sprint, Shot Put, and High Jump. Freise earned 1pt towards the team score.

In the Field
Kennadi Hale threw a personal best 34.06m in Hammer Throw, placing 20th overall. Hale placed 21st in Discus with a throw of 28.67m and 14th in Javelin with a throw of 25.12m.
Charley Seagle placed 13th in Discus with a throw of 32.17m and 18th in Javelin with a throw of 18.76m.
Faith Woodard placed 13th in Shot Put with a throw of 10.24m and 27th in Hammer Throw with a mark of 29.15m. Cierra Williams placed 10th in Shot Put with a throw of 10.48m. Kayla Rice placed 23rd in both Shot Put and Discus. Rice threw 9.01m in Shot Put and 26.15m in Discus.
Jimena Montero placed 11th in the Heptathlon with a combined score of 2474 points.
On the Track
Natalie Powers competed in the 800m run and 5000m run. Powers placed 10th in the 800m with a time of 2:21.92 and 13th in the 5000m run with a time of 18:31.23
Mary Malcolm competed in the 10,000m run and 800m run. Malcolm placed 10th in the 10000m run with a personal best 39:48.48 and 22nd in the 800m run with a time of 2:37.3.
Sophie Ratcliff competed in the 5000m run, finished in 11th place with a time of 18:15.06.
Lola Korth placed 12th in the 5000m run with a time of 18:29.07. Alleigh Flewwellin placed 16th in the 5000m run with a time of 19:19.92.
Fernanda Osuna placed 11th in the 3000m Steeplechase with a 14:02.22. Sarah McNeil placed 12th in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 14:09.43.
Louise Borgudd placed 11th in the 10000m run with a personal best 40:36.92. Grace Adams placed 12th in the 10000m run with a personal best 42:03.48.
