MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (1-0-2) drew with Lees-McRae (0-0-2) Tuesday evening, 0-0, inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
Mars Hill dominated offensively, outshooting Lees-McRae 13-2 on the night.
In the first half, the Lions had two chances stopped by Sean Green. The first was off the foot of Diego Fernandez, one of his seven shot attempts on the night. On the rebound, driving left, Charlie Drury's attempt was saved by Green, diving back with his right hand, just barely getting a fingertip on the shot.
Fernandez led all players with seven shots, four on target, followed by two attempts apiece by Drury and Mathias Mjaavatn.
Green stopped all six shots the Lions launched his way. Logan Cassel made the lone save needed on the night for his second clean sheet of the season.
The Lions return to the pitch on Friday, September 12 when they host Newberry. Their South Atlantic Conference opener is set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
