MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (3-2-6, 1-1-4 SAC) drew with Carson-Newman (1-6-3, 1-3-1 SAC) by a score of 1-1 Friday evening.
In the 34th minute, the Eagles were awarded a penalty. Mitchell Honcoop converted to give the Eagles the lead.
The waning seconds of the first half saw the Lions knot the game at one. Off of a corner with 11 seconds left in the half, Jens Haukeland delivered a ball that found Mathias Karhus Mjaavatn at the back post. The freshman defender headed the ball in for his second goal of the campaign.
In the second half of play, both teams launched seven shot attempts, with Carson-Newman landing three on target. Logan Cassel stopped all three to hold preserve the draw.
Josh Moore led all players with three shot attempts while Cassel stopped four shots for his sixth draw of the season.
The Lions travel to Hickory, North Carolina to take on Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, October 15. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
