Mars Hill ends day one of L-R Bears Invitational in sixth

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's outdoor track & field team sit in sixth after day one of the L-R Bears Invitational.
Highlights from Day 1 of competition:
Alina Mueller kicked things off with a first place finish in the javelin. She threw a new personal best of 30.78m. Mueller scored 10 points towards the overall team score. She followed up her performance in javelin with a new personal best in long jump. Mueller placed eight with a jump of 4.81m, earning one point for the team.
Makayla Rogers competed in javelin for her first-time ever. Rogers finished eighth overall with a throw of 21.13m, earning one point for the team. Rogers followed up her strong start with sixth place finish in long jump. She jumped a new personal best 4.89m, earning 2.5 points for the team.
Briana Barajas placed sixth in discus with a throw of 24.8m. She earned 3pts for the team. Barajas also competed in javelin, placing 14th overall with a throw of 17.71m.
Bailey Beeman jumped a new season best in long jump, jumping 4.22m. Blake jumped a new personal best 4.11m in long jump, placing 10th overall.
Victoria Chambers competed in her first-ever collegiate track meet. Chambers placed 15th in javelin with a throw of 15.95m. Alexis McPherson also competed in her first-ever collegiate track meet, placing 16th in javelin with a throw of 15m.
Karrington Lacy placed 12th in long jump with a jump of 3.86m. This was Lacy's first collegiate track meet.
The Lions sit in sixth place at the end of day 1 with a team score of 17.5 points.
