MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (1-7, 0-3 SAC) was defeated by Tusculum (5-2, 1-2 SAC) by a score of 17-10 Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers opened the contest on a 7-0 run before Ben Hokenson's first goal of the day broke the streak. The Lions entered the half trailing 8-1.
The teams each netted nine second half goals. In the third, both Caleb Nelson and Aiden McNamara collected a goal and an assist. Jake Mannix and Dillon Buran potted goals in the frame.
In the final 15 minutes, the Lions got goals from Nelson, McNamara, Hokenson, and Lucas Kight. Buran and Caden Costa each collected assists.
Luke Bowen led all players with 11 points (5G, 6A) while Clay Mendez added four points (1G, 3A). Nelson led the Lions with four points (3G, 1A) followed by McNamara's three points (2G, 1A).
Garrett Smith stopped 15 shots for the win. Xavier Wells made nine saves on the day.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, March 21 when they host Wingate. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m. inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
