MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (1-8, 0-4 SAC) was defeated by No. 6 Wingate (7-1, 5-0 SAC) by a score of 24-5 Saturday afternoon.
Vinny Butrico led all players with five goals followed by four from Joey Moran. Kyle Spence added five points (2G, 3A) while Jaxon Grant ended the contest with four assists.
For the Lions, Ben Hokenson led the team with two points (1G, 1A). Caleb Nelson, Aiden McNamara, James Hartley, and Jake Mannix each struck for the Lions. Both Dillon Buran and Luke Moore collected assists.
Quad Williams stopped three shots for the win while Xavier Wells made 19 saves. Dylan Smerek, in just over seven minutes of action, stopped five of six shots faced.
The Lions host Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, March 28. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m.
