MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-4, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Carson-Newman (4-3, 1-2 SAC) by a score of 5-0 Wednesday evening.
Annika Fend opened the scoring in the 11th minute, banking a corner off of a Lions' defender. Just under three minutes later, Molly Bukiewicz netted her fifth of the season, tucking home Elly Leander's long ball in.
In the 26th minute, the Eagles extended their lead to three as Selina Jud headed in a ball deflected by Felicia Frick.
Jud netted her second of the game in the 67th minute with Frick assisting on that tally as well. Frick picked up her fourth point of the contest in the 71st minute, burying a penalty kick.
Carson-Newman outshot the Lions 13-2 with Jud's four leading all players. Mia Calderon and Vera Dandanell attempted the Lions' two shots.
Mars Hill returns to the pitch on Sunday, September 28 when they face Emory & Henry on the road. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
