MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-6, 0-4 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (4-3, 3-2 SAC) by a score of 3-0 Wednesday evening at home.
Tilde Wahrenberg, in the 41st minute, broke open the scoring, netting her first of the season. Shortly into the second half, Helga Halldorsdottir doubled up the Bulldogs' lead.
Wahrenberg scored her second of the contest in the 88th minute. Both of her goals were assisted by Matilda Boyle.
The Bulldogs launched 28 shot attempts on the night, with 11 being on target. Angela Maino led all players with four attempts while Ellie Polk, Sydnee Barndt, Rhylie Druskis, and Helga Halldorsdottir each added three.
Delaney Griffin led the Lions with two shot attempts. Kayleigh Palmer stopped a career-high eight shots in the game.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, October 4 when they face Tusculum on the road. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
