GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-8, 0-6 SAC) was defeated by Tusculum (4-4-1, 2-1-1 SAC) by a score of 6-1 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the seventh minute as Marin Wills scored her first of the season. They doubled up Mars Hill in the 29th minute, heading into the half with a 2-0 advantage.
Tusculum scored three times in the span of five minutes early into the second half with Wilma Axelsson assisting on two goals, picking up her third of the contest.
In the 54th minute, Jenna Matzat broke the shutout bid, netting a penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
Carme Escamilla led all players with three shots and two goals for four points. Axelsson added three points (3a). Delaney Griffin led the Lions with three shots followed by two from Francesca Graff.
The Lions return to the pitch on Tuesday, October 15 when they face Lenoir-Rhyne on the road. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
