CENTRAL, S.C. - The Mars Hill softball team (15-5) was swept by Southern Wesleyan (11-6) by scores of 4-2 and 8-0 Thursday afternoon on the road.
GAME ONE: SWU 4, MHU 2
The Warriors took game one, highlighted by a two-run first inning.
Mars Hill, trailing 2-0 heading into the third, cut the deficit in half, with Riley Waters scoring off of a wild pitch.
Southern Wesleyan, in both the fourth and fifth, potted one run, to build their lead to three. In the top of the seventh, Bri Weimer's RBI single pulled the Lions to within two. However, their comeback bid fell short.
The Lions recorded four hits on the day, coming off the bats of Weimer, Sydney Hodges, Sadie Cecil, and Daci Sarver.
GAME TWO: SWU 8, MHU 0 - 5 Innings
The Warriors completed the sweep, plating eight runs and allowing just one Mars Hill hit on the day.
The trio of Marissa Moreland, Abby Lawson, and Maddie Crouch recorded two RBI apiece en route to the win.
Leah Grimes recorded the lone Mars Hill hit.
The Lions return to the diamond on Saturday, March 7 when they face Johnson C. Smith. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on the road.
