Akins dubbed SAC Pitcher of the Week for second time
The junior tied two school records en route to SAC honor.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Junior pitcher Kamryn Akins was named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Akins, a junior from Union, S.C., tied the Mars Hill record in single season wins with 15 as she added two more last week. She also tied a program record for single season shut outs in a victory over Lenoir-Rhyne where she went all seven innings and allowed just four hits, two walks and five strikeouts. In a win over Wingate, she allowed one run in her seven innings with four hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.
Heading into the final series of the regular season, Akins leads the league in ERA (1.63), second in K/7 (7.93), third in strikeouts (136), and is tied for fourth in wins (15).
The Lions close out the regular season on Thursday, April 23 when they face UVA Wise on the road.
