Mars Hill splits with Tusculum
Lions shutout Pioneers in game two to earn split.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill softball team (26-12, 7-7 SAC) split with Tusculum (16-22, 4-12 SAC) Tuesday afternoon, dropping game one, 2-0, but taking game two by a score of 7-0.
GAME ONE: TU 2, MHU 0
The lone scoring play of the contest took place in the bottom of the second as the Pioneers' Addison Hoffner plated two with a double to left center.
Chelsey Stonesifer earned her 14th win of the season, striking out eight and allowing five hits in the complete game.
Sadie Cecil, Bri Weimer, Maia Sholter, Sara Rexrode, and Brooke Hanson were responsible for the Lions' five hits.
GAME TWO: MHU 7, TU 0
Mars Hill returned the shutout, holding the Pioneers to just three hits in game two's 7-0 win.
Jessica Senn's RBI double to right center opened the scoring in the top of the second. She later scored, along with Leah Grimes, off of a Daci Sarver two-run single. Bri Weimer's RBI single scored Alexis Nanney and a Tusculum error later in the play allowed Sarver to cross home, putting the Lions up by five.
Weimer struck again in the top of the sixth with a two-run home run.
Weimer led all players with three hits and three RBI. Sarver added two hits and two RBI while Senn, Nanney, Sadie Cecil, Maia Sholter, and Sydney Hodges each collected one hit on the day.
Kamryn Akins secured her 12th win of the season, striking out five and allowing just three hits in the complete game victory.
Mars Hill returns home on Saturday, April 11 when they host Anderson at Ponder Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
