BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (4-10) defeated King (4-10) in extra innings Wednesday night in non-conference play.
In the top of the 10th, Max LaLime smacked a double down the right field line, plating Chapel Matson for the game-winning run.
King led 4-3 after the first. Two errant pitches, both striking Von Pelow and Ayden Hines with bases loaded, allowed the Lions to go up by two. An error later in the frame saw Mars Hill led by three before the Tornado came back to tie, and then lead.
Mars Hill regained the lead in the third. Following another Tornado error that allowed the Lions to score, Yeriel Pastrana's two-run double plated both LaLime and Colin Holmes, putting the Lions up 6-5.
In the fifth, Alejandro Aguilar bumped the lead to three with a two-run home run.
Tied at eight entering the ninth, Carter Potts' RBI single up the middle scored Holmes for the go-ahead run.
Holmes and Pastrana led the Lions with two hits apiece while Holmes and Matson led all players with three runs scored. Aguilar and Pastrana led the team with two RBI apiece.
Reid Withers was credited with the win, throwing 2.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out four. Dustin Dunlap threw a scoreless 10th frame, striking out two, to earn the save.
