Green named head women's basketball coach
NaJarius "JJ" Green has been named the new head women's basketball coach.
MARS HILL, N.C. – NaJarius "JJ" Green has been named the head women's basketball coach, as announced by Director of Athletics Rick Baker.
"First, I would like to thank God for the continued blessings given to me," Green said. "I'd like to thank President Floyd and Mr. Baker for the opportunity to lead this women's basketball program."
Green comes to Mars Hill after serving as head women's basketball coach at Columbia College since 2022. While at Columbia, he led the program to the most single season wins in their program's history as well as their first ever AAC Tournament appearance and win. Green is the winningest coach in program history and was named the Columbia College Coach of the Year two times.
Baker stated, "We are very excited for Coach Green to lead our women's basketball program. He will bring a great deal of energy and passion for the game to go along with his knowledge and experience. We look forward to welcoming his family to MHU."
Prior to joining Columbia College, he was the assistant coach at Spartanburg Methodist College from 2019-2022. He began his coaching career as an assistant women's basketball coach at Greer High School during the 2019 season.
Green graduated from Southern Wesleyan University in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management. He was dual sport athlete as a member of both the men's basketball team as well as the men's track & field team.
Green added, "I'm excited to get started, not only on the court at Mars Hill University, but in the community as well. Let's Go Lions!"
