Mars Hill defeated by No. 9 Cobras
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (4-6, 1-3 SAC) was defeated by No. 9 Coker (8-1, 4-0 SAC) by a score of 76-56 Saturday afternoon.
The Cobras jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter, leading Mars Hill 19-8 after the first 10 minutes. The Lions responded in the second, outscoring Coker 22-15, highlighted by two threes from Cecilee Silver.
The second half saw the teams combine for 25 points in a turnover filled third quarter. Coker, pulling away in the fourth, netted a game-high 26 points in the frame.
Kristynn Knight led Coker with 16 points and four rebounds while Shawnteanna Tillman, despite going 1-of-14 from the floor, ended the contest with 13 points. Kamari Thompson led all players with 16 rebounds, adding nine points.
Jadyiah Peoples and Makayla Street led the Lions with 14 points apiece while Adrianna Gullette added eight. Jadein Haynes led the team with eight rebounds while Kindan Dawson and Cecilee Silver led the team with two steals apiece.
The Lions face Furman in exhibition play on Sunday, December 14. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
