Ondongo, Street net 20 apiece, Lions fall to Eagles
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (4-13, 1-10 SAC) fell to Carson-Newman (13-4, 9-2 SAC) by a score of 87-63 Wednesday evening.
The Eagles led by eight going into the second frame, led by Chloe Heath's seven points. Madelyn Ladd added six points. Felesia Ondongo led all players with 10 points, hitting two threes in the frame.
Mars Hill closed the gap in the second quarter, outscoring Carson-Newman 22-18, heading into the half down 42-38. Makayla Street led all players with 10 points, dominating the floor for Mars Hill. Jadyiah Peoples collected five rebounds and two steals in the quarter.
Carson-Newman dominated the third en route to victory, netting a game-high 29 points, going 10-of-18 from the floor and hitting four threes. Heath led the team with eight points.
Closing out the contest, Ondongo and Street led all players in the fourth with five points apiece.
Ondongo and Street led all players with 20 points apiece. Peoples led all Lions with eight rebounds and chipped in eight points while Adrianna Gullette led the team with five assists.
The Lions return to the road on Friday, January 23 when they face Newberry. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
