WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (4-11, 1-7 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (9-5, 4-4 SAC) by a score of 84-51 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Bulldogs were led offensively by Laura Montiel, as she went 11-of-14 from the floor for 22 points, adding a game-high five steals. Kyleigh Bacon led all players with 13 rebounds, chipping in 12 points for the double-double.
Kindan Dawson led the Lions with 15 points, going 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Shyann McCummings and Jadyiah Peoples each added 12 points with the latter leading all players with seven assists. Makayla Street led the team with four rebounds.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, January 14 when they face Emory & Henry on the road. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
