Chavez, Scott named to All-Region second team
BANNER ELK, N.C. - Mars Hill defender Troy Chavez and goalkeeper Zac Scott have been named to the 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Men's Soccer team, announced region officials Tuesday.
Chavez led a Lions' defense that ended the 2011 season establishing new school records fewest goals allowed (15) and tying a school record for most shutouts (9).
Scott set new school records in 2011. He allowed a record-low 15 goals, posted a goals against average of only 0.76, and tied the record for most shutouts (7).
The Daktronics NCAA Division II all-Southeast Region Teams are voted on by the sports information directors of the Southeast Region. The region is comprised of the Conference Carolinas, the Peach Belt Conference, and the South Atlantic Conference.
Members of the first team are now eligible for Daktronics NCAA
Division II All-America honors.
